Kendari (kpa.or.id) – KPA of Southeast Sulawesi along with the Punk Community of Kendari City organized a rallying aid for the victims of Bengkulu Flood that strikes last week. That rallying was organized in the crossroad in front of Kendari City square on Thursday, May 9th 2019.
Heavy rain occurred for two days straight from April 26th-27th 2019 causing the flood to struck 8 regencies and 1 city in Bengkulu Province, among it are the Regencies of Kaur, North Bengkulu, Central Bengkulu, South Bengkulu, Kepahiang, Lebong Rajang Lebong and the City of Bengkulu.
Other than destroying several public facilities, the flood also caused the death of 24 persons, 4 among them are still missing.
This rallying of aid as the form of solidarity toward agrarian reform movements of Southeast Sulawesi and Punk Community of Kendari City toward our brothers and sisters whom are the flood victims in Bengkulu,” said Didi Hardiana, the Campaigner of Southeast Sulawesi KPA.
She conveys, specifically, this aid also intended toward the agrarian reform defenders in Bengkulu, where several members of Bengkulu Peasants Union (Serikat Tani Bengkulu/STaB), the peasant organization member of KPA that were also struck by the flood.
From the aid rallying organized here, we have gathered Rp. 526.500,-, the donation results from people of Kendari City. The plan is, in the future, KPA Southeast Sulawesi and Punk Community of Kendari City will return to gather the donations from the people. (BW)
